How it works
From your first call to your car back on the road, in plain words
You call or WhatsApp us. We take over the claim against the other driver's insurer in writing, get the damage assessed independently, put you in a replacement car where you need one, get your car repaired at a vetted garage, and chase the claim until it is settled. You are told at every step.
The eight steps
You call or WhatsApp us, any hour
Call 0818 294 336 or WhatsApp 083 448 3732 with your photos. We take the details of the crash, the cars and the other driver, and read them back to you so nothing is wrong on the file. If it is the middle of the night, we take everything down and a person calls you back.
You sign a short authority form
Usually on your phone, the same day. It appoints us to act for you. Once you have appointed us in writing, the other driver's insurer must deal with us, so the calls stop coming to you. Everything about cost, and your right to cancel, is in writing before you sign.
The photos, and nobody touches the car yet
You send the ten photos (the list). Wherever the car is, at home, at the roadside or already at a garage, nobody starts repairing it or stripping it until the assessor has seen it and there is a written authority to repair. If it cannot be driven, tell us and we sort where it goes. That protects the evidence and protects you.
Day one: the insurers are told, and the car is sorted
We notify the insurers on day one. Where you need a car, we arrange a replacement while yours is off the road, with the cost pursued as part of your claim.
The independent assessment
An assessor who is not the repairer inspects the damage, from your photos or in person, and puts a written figure on it. Where your car will lose value from having a repair on its history, that is assessed too, and shown as a separate figure. This written opinion is what the whole claim rests on, so it is done properly and it is never inflated.
The repair
Your car is repaired at one of our vetted partner garages, to the assessor's figure. If hidden damage turns up once the panels are off, the garage stops, the assessor supplements the authority, and the repair continues. No shortcuts and no padding.
The claim goes in, and we chase it
We put the full claim to the other driver's insurer in writing, with the assessor's report and the evidence, and we chase it through their timelines until it is settled. You get a plain update at every stage, not a silence.
Your car is back, and the claim is closed
You are back in your own car, the garage and the hire company have been dealt with, and anything owed to you comes to you. Nothing is charged that was not set out in writing before you signed. Then you keep our number.
What we need from you
- The ten photos, before the car is moved.
- The other driver's details and any witnesses.
- Honesty about how the crash happened. A claim built on the truth is the one that gets paid.
- Quick replies when we need a signature or a document. The insurer's clock only runs when the file is complete.
What we do not do
- We do not handle injury. If anyone was hurt, that is a matter for a solicitor, and we will say so.
- We do not give legal advice and we are not a law firm.
- We do not advise on your own insurance policy.
- We do not promise an outcome or a timeframe. We tell you what we expect and what we know.
Who we are
Not My Fault Limited is an Irish company, number 826323, based in Dublin. It was set up by people with years of experience handling motor claims and recoveries, to do one thing well: take a driver who was not at fault from the crash to the money without the insurer's process running over them.
Our assessors are independent of our garages. That separation is deliberate. It is what makes the figure on your claim stand up.
